Folio Version 4.7.0.8
Products: Folio Views, Folio Builder, Folio Publisher, Folio Integrator
The Folio 4.7 Readme file covers the following topics:
What's New in Folio 4.7
Folio 4.7 addresses several issues and provides some new functionality. It also
incorporates some new underlying technology which makes it easier to update,
which may lead to more frequent updates and enhancements in the future.
Key new items or enhancements in this release include:
-
User interface update - The user interface can now inherit the styles of the
operating system, enabling the application to look appropriate for Windows XP.
-
Improved memory management - We've updated the memory manager for Folio Views,
resulting in better overall performance.
-
Improved LCF performance - We've updated how LCF time stamps are written,
considerably improving the speed at which rights management infobases are
opened.
-
Updated security model - In Folio 4.7, we've changed the underlying secuirty
infrastructure to make it more difficult to bypass the Folio Rights Management
model. (Folio Rights Management hasn't been updated since it was origianlly
released, while computing technologies have.)
-
File format change - Folio 4.7 incorporates a file format change. Folio 4.7
infobases can not be opened on previous versions of Folio Views. However,
earlier versions of Folio 4 infobases may be opened in Folio 4.7.
-
Enabled support for Visual Accessiblity - Folio Views applications can now be
made compatible with visual accessibility guidelines (Section 508 compliance in
the United States) for use with Screen Readers. Prior to this release, Folio
Views was about 90% compliant. With this release, Folio Views is about 95%
compliant out of the box. Using settings available in the registry and / or
through the Folio Integrator, Folio Views can be completely compliant.
-
Search & Replace dialog changes - The Search & Replace dialog is now
modeless, allowing you to keep it open while changing other text in the
infobase (like the Search & Replace dialog in Notepad or MS Word).
-
Added new Tag functionality - Invert Tagged Records and Tag Range of Records
are new options on the Edit menu.
-
Provides a visual cue during license refresh - When refreshing a license in the
Rights Administrator, the cursor now turns to an hourglass during the refresh
process (previous versions did not provide any indication other than a brief
form flicker).
-
Turn hit highlighting on and off - You can now turn hit highlighting off and
on. Previous versions only allowed you to clear the highlights. This option is
available from the View menu and from the Search toolbar.
Other changes since the Folio 4.7 release include:
-
Improved scroll rate when selecting text in the document window.
-
Provided the ability to adjust the spacing between lines in the contents,
hitlist, and reference controls.
-
Provided the option of enabling single click document synchronization to the
contents, hitlist, and reference controls.
-
Provided the ability to adjust the toolbar image height
-
Provided the ability to add a horizontal scroll bar to the hit-list window.
-
Fixed memory leaks in the HitList_SetSorting function and a 24 byte memory leak
that occured every time a query link containing a contents query was executed.
-
The options dialog now saves the active tab so subsequent openings of the
options dialog default to the tab that was previously active.
-
Improved MS Word/RTF import performance by managing memory and file access more
effectively.
-
Improved performance when shutting down several rights managed Infobase's.
-
Fixed Hypergraphic Issue - Folio hypergraphics are now converted correctly when
exporting to RTF.
-
Fixed Query Issue - The "Go Back" and "Go Forward" commands no longer produce
incorrect query results.
- Updated the InstallShield sample projects to use InstallShield 10.5.
Several registry entries have been added in this release. However, it is
not necessary to include these new registry entries in order to prevent
existing registry settings from being overwritten. Search on the various 'New
to 4...' fields in Folio Help infobase for details.
